Megan Williams was a founding member of Hunter Opera before taking up the Doris Smith Scholarship to study singing in Germany in 1989. Through the 1980s Megan stayed close to her musical “home” playing Mezzo Soprano and Contralto roles with the Newcastle Gilbert & Sullivan Players. On her return from Germany, Megan’s tastes and theatrical experience diversified. She has enjoyed portraying Maria (Sound of Music – Narrabri Music & Drama Society), Bloody Mary (South Pacific – Metropolitan Players), Mama Morton (Chicago – SNAP Productions), Golde (Fiddler on the Roof – Hunter Opera), Sister Hubert (Nuncrackers – Theatre on Brunker) and most recently, Margaret in Carrie The Musical with the WEA Academy of Creative Arts.
Earlier this year Megan was pleased to be part of Stooged Theatre’s Neighbourhood Watch season at the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie in the role of Jovanka.
Megan is pleased to be part of this special season of ‘Life, Love & Opera III’ and sing, once again, Gilbert & Sullivan’s delightful ‘Trial by Jury’, 5 – 8 December 2018 at Newcastle Theatre Company. Learn more >
